Tiger Shark Diving: October - May

Epic Diving spends from October to May on the West End of Grand Bahama Island at the world famous Tiger Beach. Diving with tiger sharks, reef sharks, and lemon sharks are the norm, with chances to see great hammerhead sharks and bull sharks.

However, for many years now, the Tiger Shark diving has been taking front stage at Tiger Beach and changing the perception of these top predators. However, for many years now, the Tiger Shark diving has been taking front stage at Tiger Beach and changing the perception of these top predators. Thanks to the foresight of the Bahamas, making all waters surrounding the nations islands a marine sanctuary, we are able to enjoy the benefits of a healthy marine ecosystem.

The reefs near tiger beach have a vast array of marine life, hard corals and soft corals. Visibility can reach well over 100 feet and you mix in some of the local reef and lemon sharks, you have a dream dive for many nature enthusiasts. The tiger sharks can grow to over 16 feet. When they come in, you’ll find yourself ignoring all the other sharks in the area and focusing on only the large, striped sharks. They seem to be more curious and cautious than you were expecting. Being completely surrounded by nature for the week, we know you will leave with more appreciation for the sharks, but also for the Bahamas as a whole.

2 Dive Per Day
There are a variety of different dive scenarios when we interact with the sharks. All Tiger Shark Expeditions are SCUBA only and guests will have up to 2 dives per day. Depth varies but is shallow in general, and bottom times are longer. For the most part, divers will be overweighted and kneeling on the bottom. It’s easy diving, so you can focus all your attention on the sharks surrounding you. We will be in the water together as a group.

Dive Conditions

The dive conditions are incredible. We typicially enjoy warm, calm, crystal clear water. Although the temperature is between 76 – 80 degrees F (24.5 – 27.5 degrees C), we require guests to wear full length wetsuits, as well as tropical gloves. Short or tropical wetsuits result in a high contrast area where the suit and your fleshy limbs meet, which might spark unwanted investigation. For this same reason, we strongly recommend black equipment and prefer to avoid any bright/flashy colors. We provide tanks, which are Aluminum 80s with a few DIN valves availalbe, as well as weight belts and weights.

Poolside Condos

We offer condos that are fully furnished units. Unlike standard hotels, there is no daily room service. The condo will be supplied with fresh towels, bedding, and toilet paper. There is laundry (washer and dryer) in each unit if you’d like to freshen up your linens. Stop of at the store on the way in and pick up some extra toilet paper, dish soap, toiletries and snacks.

Each poolside apartment features:

  • Single or Double with a queen size bed and full bathroom

  • A fully furnished living room, full kitchen, half bathroom, and walk out patio.

  • The pool is just outside the apartment

  • There is internet access poolside, in the restaurant and lobby.
