About Cocotinos & Odyssea Divers

Odyssea Divers also operates an activity center out of Cocotinos Sekotong in south-west Lombok, offering diving, snorkelling, boating and other sea sports.

Cocotinos Sekotong is a newly opened boutique resort built in an established coconut plantation with a stunning white-sand beach of over 300m in length. Clear blue waters and small tropical islands face the resort making it ideal for divers and honeymooners alike.

We have been carrying out explaratory dives in the area around the 13 islands which lie within Sekotong Bay and are pleased to inform that we have already identified a number of very interesting sites with critters that are waiting to be discovered by keen divers.

The Dive Sites in West Sekotong, Lombok consists of the following sites:

Gili Renggit, Timur (East) - A sloping reef that levels off to about 20 metres, this site is filled with feather stars and soft coral tress. Look out for mantis shrimp, turtles, ornate ghost pipefish, nudibranchs, gobies and porcelain crabs. At about 17m, there are patches of snow white anemonies.

The Dive Sites in West Sekotong, Lombok consists of the following sites:

Gili Renggit, Timur (East) - A sloping reef that levels off to about 20 metres, this site is filled with feather stars and soft coral tress. Look out for mantis shrimp, turtles, ornate ghost pipefish, nudibranchs, gobies and porcelain crabs. At about 17m, there are patches of snow white anemonies.
Gili Renggit, Barat (West) - This site has a steep sloping reef of soft corals that level off to a sandy bottom. Look out for turtles and lobsters under the rocky ledges and among the usual suspects of Moorish idols, wrasses, sweetlips and moray eels. There are huge fields of Staghorn corals in the shallows.
WHIP POINT, Gili Renggit (North) - This site has an impressive array of hard corals. The table corals here are HUGE and entirely intact. Look under them for stingrays, sharks and turtles taking a snooze.
Secret Garden, Gili Layar - A gentle sloping reef filled with soft corals, huge barrel sponges and whip corals with squat lobsters, gobies, xeno crabs and Zanzibar shrimp. Another highlight is the profusion of tiny yellow sea cucumbers. In the shallows are hard coral and rock formations.
WILL’S BEACH (Discovered by Odyssea) - This site is a favourite among macro photographers for the huge variety of creatures found here. This gentle, sandy slope is covered with nudibranchs, flounders, puffers, skeleton shrimp, robust, halimeda and rough snout ghost pipefish, tozeuma shrimp, Zanzibar shrimp, flying gurnards, mimic and long-armed octopuses, Ambon scorpionfish and much much more.
Medang Barat - Currents can be strong at this site, so a negative entry is recommended here. When you descend quickly, the depth levels off to about 30 metres. Garden eels make their home on the sand amongst the rocky outcrops. Look under the ledges for turtles, rays and sharks. There are huge fans here and around them, try and spot octopuses, mantis shrimp, moray eels, snapper and sweetlips.
Sunken Island - Like the name suggests, this site gently slopes to about 25 metres. When visibility is good, the place looks like a manicured garden with pristine, intact hard and soft corals. Here you will find nudibranchs, crabs, mantis shrimp, stingrays, sharks, eagle rays, turtles, octopuses and cuttlefish.
GILI KURA KURA, BARAT (WEST) - A great place to go to for newbies. This site is shallow with hardly any current. Swim with the usual reef fish like Moorish idols, wrasses and anthias. Watch out for the fire coral, though. This site is even better as a night dive. Basket stars, spider and porcelain crabs, ornate and robust ghost pipefish, cuttlefish and slipper lobsters like coming out when the moon comes out.
NUDIE SLOPE, GILI POH BARAT (WEST) (Discovered by Odyssea) - This is a rubble slope that has more then meets the eye. If Gili Renggit Timur is filled with feather stars, this site is filled with hard, disc-shaped corals. Look out for nudibranchs and all kinds of shrimp and crabs among them. Watch out for octopuses, hermit crabs, Saron shrimp, harlequin shrimp, velvet ghost pipefish and ornate ghost pipefish too. An excellent site for night dives.
GILI POH, TIMUR (EAST) (Discovered by Odyssea) - This site is very similar to Nudie Slope with all the same creatures. However, if you want to get pictures of Banded pipefish, this is the place to be.
BATU GENDANG - Only for highly experienced divers, this site is tide dependent and reef hooks are recommended. Watch for angelfish, batfish, bumphead parrotfish, sweetlips, turtles sharks and eagle rays.
GILI GELONG (MONKEY ISLAND) (Discovered by Odyssea) - This site has a rubble and sandy bottom that is home to a variety of mantis shrimp, ribbon eels, shrimp fish, cuttlefish, anemone crabs and shrimp. Look in the crinoids for snapping shrimp and whip corals for Zanzibar shrimp.

Guests arrive by air at the new international airport at Praya in South Lombok and a 75-min drive brings them through well-swept towns, lush green padi fields and verdant forests; the final part of the journey follows a winding coastline from picturesque Lembar Harbour to a secluded white-sand beach at Tanjung Empet.

White-Sand Beach

The resort faces the 3 coconut-fringed islands of Gili Nanggu, Gili Tangkong and Gili Sudak. Fronting the resort is a glorious white-sand beach which spans over 300m, part of which lies within a private cove.

While the northern Gilis (Trawangan, Meno and Air) are well-known and developed, these 3 islands in the south-west are still unspoilt, tropical islands. Gili Nanggu, which is closest to the resort, is already rated as one of the world’s best snorkelling destinations by Silkwind magazine. Apart from these 3 islands, there are 10 other islands within an easy boat ride.

Cocotinos Sekotong was designed on a grander and more luxurious scale, while still maintaining that cosy ambience and personalised service, now synonymous with our Cocotinos brand.

Choose From Five Room Types

Terrace Room garden view - A cluster of eight units of well-appointed guest rooms overlooking a lush garden, each featuring either a king-size bed or twin beds and a daybed. The daybed can be converted during the night into an extra bed. The bathroom is airy and is fitted with a central wash basin with mirror, a shower stall and a separate WC cubicle.
Garden Room garden view - A cluster of ten well-appointed guest rooms in a lush garden setting, in a semi-detached arrangement. Each semi-detached unit has two rooms under one roof: one room features a king-size bed and the other room features twin beds. Every room has a daybed which can be converted into an extra bed at night. The spacious and airy bathroom features both indoor and outdoor showers, separate WC cubicle, a terrazzo wash basin with oyster shell inlays and a bevelled mirror with a carved-timber frame.
Garden Room ocean view - A cluster of five well-appointed guest rooms in a lush garden setting with pool and ocean view, each featuring a king-size bed and a daybed which can be converted to an extra bed at night. The spacious and airy bathroom features both indoor and outdoor showers, separate WC cubicle, a terrazzo wash basin with shell oyster inlays and a bevelled mirror with a carved-timber frame.
Bedroom Water’s Edge Villa - A cluster of three well-appointed one-bedroom villas located on the water’s edge with a stunning view of the ocean and 3 southern ‘gilis’, namely, Gili Nanggu, Gili Tangkong and Gili Sudak. Each villa features a king-size bed and a large semi open-air bathroom, with indoor and outdoor showers, WC cubicle, two terrazzo wash hand basins with oyster shell inlay and an exquisite free-standing terrazzo bath. Large glass sliding doors open to the wide verandah with an inviting plunge pool and timber deck that overlooks the beach and ocean; stone steps provide direct access to the beach. Contemporary artwork and wall lights made from recycled teak and coconut leaf-stems contribute to that added charm.
Bedroom Tangkong Villa - The Tangkong Villa is located on the water’s edge with a stunning view of the ocean and 3 southern ‘gilis’, namely, Gili Nanggu, Gili Tangkong and Gili Sudak. The bedroom features a king-size bed and the living room features an elegant rattan settee. Both rooms have large glass sliding doors that open to the wide verandah with an inviting plunge pool and timber deck that overlooks the beach and ocean; stone steps provide direct access to the beach.
The huge semi open-air bathroom features a spacious indoor shower stall with a timber stool, WC cubicle with bidet, a long twin-basin terrazzo vanity, a free-standing terrazzo bath with an over sized wall mirror, and a private indoor garden which encloses a mature coconut tree within, redefining bathing as a truly sensational experience. Attached to the living room is a smaller bathroom with wash basin, WC and shower.
The Tangkong Villa is ideal as a comfortable hide-away for couples who want privacy but would still like to receive visitors in the living room and pool deck. Alternatively, for those who travel with friends or family, the living room can also function as an extra bedroom.
